Editorial policy
How we source, check and date what we publish.
Sources first
Facts about dog rules, parking, water quality, weather, holidays and safety come from the organisation responsible: Cornwall Council, the Environment Agency, the Met Office, GOV.UK, HM Coastguard or the RNLI. We link each one, and list the sources at the foot of every page.
Last checked dates
Every page shows when we last checked it against its sources. Where a source shows its own “last updated” date, we show that too.
What we leave out
We do not quote parking charges, which change often; we link to the council page instead. We do not say a beach has lifeguards unless we can check it. We do not publish opinions dressed up as facts.
Our own calculations
Some figures are our own calculations from official data, such as sunrise and sunset times, straight-line distances and long-term weather averages. We label these where they appear.
Pages still being checked
If a page’s key facts are not yet confirmed, we mark it clearly and ask search engines not to index it until it is.
Independence
We are not paid to include any beach, town or business. Only Cornwall is published by Oaknest Media.
